New York State Defensive Driving Course
Completion of a DMV-approved Point and Insurance Reduction Program course can reduce the base rate of automobile liability and collision insurance premiums by 10% each year for three years and can reduce the points used to calculate a suspension by up to four points.
The classroom course is approximately six hours, is based on participation and traffic-safety instruction, and does not require formal testing. Day and evening classes may be available.

Boating Safety Course
New York requires operators of motorized vessels, including personal watercraft, to complete a state-approved safe-boating course. New York’s course is NASBLA-approved.
